Indications have emerged that the former Governor of Zamfara State, Senator Abdulaziz Yari might emerge as the Director General of the Presidential Campaign Council of President Bola Tinubu campaign ahead of the 2027 elections.
TheHintsNews reliably gathered that Yari may likely emerge as the director-general of the presidential campaign council ahead of the Governor of Imo state, Senator Hope Uzodimma, who is also the Chairman of Progressive Governors Forum (PGF).
It was gathered that Yari, through the help of a member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and one of Tinubu’s trusted foot soldiers, Hon. James Faleje is making a frantic effort to emerge as the director-general.
Yari, according to a reliable source in the presidency, is pushing that he has his own money to fund the campaign.
However, Uzodimma wants to lead the campaign as the director-general through the Renewed Hope Ambassadors platform funded by APC governors.
Checks revealed that while President Bola Tinubu could pick his campaign director-general between the duo, but he hasn’t made a decision yet.
The source stated: “He (Yari) is lobbying hard for it with the help of Falake but the President has not okayed it.
“They are making the argument that Hope Uzodinma who is a southerner like the President should not lead the campaign through the Renewed Hope Ambassadors
“Yari is pushing that he has his own money to fund the campaign. That is his major selling point.
“Uzodinma wants to lead the campaign as the DG too through the Renewed Hope Ambassadors platform being funded by APC governors
“Yari and Faleke camp don’t want Uzodinma. They want Yari. They are pushing for a Presidential Campaign Council that will have Yari as DG not Renewed Hope Ambassadors.”
However, another chieftain of the party told TheHintsNews that any dream of Uzodimma becoming the presidential campaign director-general has already been killed.
The source said while Uzodimma was already out of the picture, Faleke might emerge as Deputy Director – General of the presidential campaign council.
The source added: “Hope is out of the president ‘s consideration. That agenda is dead. Yari is on the table but not finalised yet. He had some issues a few weeks back but has been resolved. But Mr. President has not vetted any list yet.”
The source noted that the Presidential campaign council might be constituted by the end of this month, or early next month.
