President of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Leaders of Nigeria and State Woman Leader, Edo State APC, Lady Betty Benson- Okoebor, has passed a vote of implicit confidence on the National Woman Leader of APC, Dr Betta Edu.
TheHintsNews reports that the Zonal Women Leaders of the party and elected female national APC officers had on Sunday passed a vote of no confidence in the leadership of Edu.
The APC women in a letter dated July 14th and addressed to President Bola Tinubu, said it was worrisome that at this infancy stage of the administration of Tinubu which needs all hands to be on deck that the women leadership of the party was already experiencing division and seclusion in representation which has been the pattern of the National Woman Leader since her emergence.
However, Benson-Okoebor in a statement issued Sunday, said the vote of confidence became imperative because of the hard work and commitment of Edu for the mobilization of Nigerian women towards the victory of the party and the president.
She said: “The Edo State APC woman leader who is also the President of the 36 states and FCT APC women leaders in Nigeria, stated that, the vote of confidence becomes imperative because of the hard work and commitment of the national woman leader for the mobilization of Nigerian women towards the victory of the party and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in the just concluded Presidential and National House of Assembly elections.
“I write to convey my vote of implicit confidence on the leadership of the radiant, intelligent, ebullient and eloquent national woman leader of our great party, APC.”
Benson-Okoebor stressed that Edu demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities during the presidential electioneering campaigns.
She noted that her unique capacity to mobilize women across layers of political lives was sufficiently demonstrated during the February 25th Presidential and National House of Assembly elections.
“I wish to use this medium to assure our great national woman leader, that, we the 36 states and FCT women leaders of APC, who are her primary constituent are solidly behind her sterling leadership,” Benson-Okoebor added.
