The United State and United Kingdom have warned that terrorists are likely to attack major hotels in Nigeria.
Both the US and UK gave the warning through the updated security advise on their websites.
The U.S said: “The U.S government is aware of credible information that there is an elevated threat to major hotels in Nigeria’s larger cities. The Nigerian security services are working diligently to counter the threat.
“The U.S. Department of State advises U.S. citizens to consider this information when arranging lodging or visiting major hotels in Nigeria.”
It urged it citizens to exercise vigilance at major hotels; be alert to your surroundings and keep a low profile.
On its part, the UK government noted terrorists are likely to attempt attacks in the country, including indiscriminate attacks against crowded public locations.
It stated: ‘On 3 November 2023, the US Embassy in Nigeria issued notice of an increased threat to major hotels in Nigeria’s larger cities.
“UK Travel Advice notes that terrorists are very likely to attempt attacks in Nigeria, including indiscriminate attacks against crowded public locations.”
It advised that discretion and judgement should be used with regard to activity in public places including large hotels, with visitors encouraged to remain vigilant and alert while paying attention to their surroundings at all times.
