President Bola Tinubu has forwarded the names of members of the inaugural Governing Board of the North West Development Commission (NWDC) to the Senate for confirmation.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga in a statement issued Saturday said the step followed Tinubu’s signing of NWDC Bill into law on 24 July, marking a crucial milestone in the Commission’s establishment.
To this end, the President appointed Amb. Haruna Ginsaufrom Jigsaw as the Chairman, while Prof. Abdullahi Ma’aji from Kano states was appointed as the Managing Director.
However, Dr. YahayaNamahe (Sokoto); Hon. Aminu Suleiman (Kebbi); Sen. Tijani Yahaya Kaura (Zamfara); Hon. Abdulkadir Usman (Kaduna); Hon. Muhammad Wudil (Kano); Shamsu Sule (Katsina) and Nasidi Ali (Jigawa) were all appointed as members.
Onanuga said the nominated board members are expected to contribute their wealth of experience and expertise to the Commission’s mandate of developing the North-West region.
He noted that the NWDC would focus on catalysing significant growth, economic empowerment, and social development of the region.
Onanuga said Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to supporting the NWDC in its mission to bring sustainable development to the North West is steadfast.
