The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu has resigned his position.
The National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore is also expected to tender his resignation.
There had been several calls for the resignation of Adamu and Omisore after the 2023 elections.
The National Vice Chairman, North-west of the party, Dr. Salihu Lukman had accused Adamu and Omisore of turning other members of the National Working Committee (NWC) to rubber stamp.
The comrade cum politician had also dragged both Adamu and Omisore to court, for failing to render the party’s account, refusal to summon a meeting of the National Executive Committee and breach of the party’s constitution.
TheHintNews reports that Adamu had fixed NWC meeting for Monday July 17 preparatory to July 18 and 19 Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings respectively.
TheHintsNews gathered that NWC members met on sunday in Abuja at an undisclosed location.
However, the details of the meeting was not known as of the time of filing this report.
A party source said a member of the NWC confirmed the resignation of Adamu.
“The news about Adamu’s resignation might be true because a member of the NWC told me.”
Another party source revealed that some party chieftains who got wind of the plot are likely to meet with Adamu on Sunday night or Monday morning persuade him to resign rather than being shown the exit door at the NEC meeting scheduled for Wednesday.
The source said: “The truth is that some bigwigs in the party are no longer comfortable with Adamu. They are bent on removing him and the National Secretary. They have compiled their sins, presented them to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and are ready to send them out of office during the NEC meeting on Wednesday.”
