The resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the party’s Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore will be announced today at noon.
The announcement will be made at the meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party taking place today at the party’s national Secretariat, Abuja.
TheHintsNews reports that the plots to remove Adamu and Omisore thickens over the weekend after President Bola Tinubu allegedly gave a marching order that the duo be removed from office.
Adamu had fixed the NWC meeting for today preparatory to July 18 and 19 Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) respectively.
Investigations revealed that Adamu might not get the chance to preside over the meeting as gang up against him and Omisore is more formidable more than ever.
TheHintsNews checks revealed that the president had met with some governors of his party and given them an express order to remove Adamu and Omisore.
The president might have decided that he had had enough of the duo after detailing his displeasure, especially with the Adamu, who recently confessed to having supported a different candidate for the party’s presidential ticket in the person of former Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.
Acting on the presidential order, a powerful team including some serving and former governors, as well as some party chieftains decided to meet with the chairman and the secretary to persuade them to honourably resign.
It was against this background that the duo acceded to resign, knowing the directive was the president’s.
It was reliably gathered that they had since last night handed their letters to Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) and the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzondinma.
TheHintsNews gathered that the member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, Hon. James Faleke spent several hours with the National Security Adviser (NSA) on Sunday night.
It is yet to be confirmed if Faleke will eventually replace Adamu as the chairman of the ruling party.
However, it was further gathered that the NEC meeting is likely to approve a timetable for a midterm elective convention to fill party vacancies.
