Bandits have abducted 23 women in Moriki town, Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State while they were out fetching firewood.
According to Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred on Friday, August 2, at about 1:30 p.m.
Sources said that the women, all residents of Moriki, were ambushed by the bandits in the bush on the outskirts of the town.

The victims were taken to an unknown destination by the assailants.
On receiving the report, troops of Operation Fansan Yanma with local vigilantes and other security agencies, launched a rescue operation to secure the release of the abducted women.
The sources assured that all necessary measures were being taken to ensure their safe return and to apprehend the perpetrators.
