Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested five suspected cultist members of the Aye Confraternity during a routine stop-and-search operation carried out as part of an intelligence-led operation along the Ago/Festac Bridge axis of Lagos State.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi in a statement issued Tuesday said the operatives intercepted a Toyota Camry XLE saloon car occupied by two suspects, namely Emmanuel John ‘m’, aged 24 years, and David Godwin ‘m’, aged 28 years.
He added that a search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of substances suspected to be hard drugs.
Adebisi noted: “During preliminary interrogation, both suspects confessed to being members of the Aye Confraternity.
“Further investigation led to the arrest of three additional suspected cult members identified as Samuel Owubokiri, ‘m’, aged 25 years; Adetona Seyi, ‘m’, aged 20 years; and David Chigozie ‘m’, aged 25 years.
“Exhibits recovered from the suspects include military camouflage, two machetes, one battle axe, one knife, 500 SIM cards, five mobile phones, five laptops, charms, and various substances suspected to be hard drugs.
“The suspects also confessed to being members of the Aye Confraternity.”
