Schools in Ikirun, the headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government, Osun state were forced to shut down on Tuesday over fear of attacks by bandits.
TheHintsNews reports that terrorists on May 15, 2026 kidnapped teachers and pupils from Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School in Esiele and Yawota communities in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Against this background, protests were held in Oyo and Ogun states on Monday over the continued abduction of the teachers and pupils.
However, parents raced to schools on Tuesday morning when rumours gained traction that terrorists were already attacking schools.
TheHintsNews gathered that by 11:00a.m, almost all the schools in Ikirun were empty following the release of children by the school authority.
Nevertheless, learning activities continued at Federal Government College, Ikirun and El-Shaddi Group of Schools.
As of the time of filing this report, the state government was yet to issue any statement as regards the development.
