The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has vowed to resign his position if President Bola Tinubu fails to win the nation’s capital and Rivers State in the 2027 presidential election.
Wike stated this on Wednesday during a meeting with members of the Apo Traders Association in Abuja.
He stressed that while Rivers State is his home, Abuja is where he works and he cannot afford to lose in both places.
The minister vowed that if the president loses FCT and Rivers, by January 17, he would announced his resignation.
Wike stated: “FCT is where I work. Rivers State is my state. And if I do not deliver where I work, then I am not worthy to be here. And if I lose here, I shouldn’t be in that position.”
Wike noted that what his “Rainbow Coalition” simply means is that the members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling APC are both supporting the President to ensure his re-election.
He said that those who don’t understand what the coalition means are only afraid of “themselves”.
