The Nigeria Civil Authority (NCAA) has denied media reports suggesting that the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo has ordered the removal of airfield lights at Mallam Aminu Kano International airport to replace the missing airfield lights at Runway 18R at Murtala Muhammad International
Airport Lagos.
The Director General of NCAA, Captain Musa Nuhu in a statement issued on Saturday urged the public to disregard the report.
He said the agency was not aware of any directive to that effect.
He added that the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano is among the five International airports in the country close to receiving certification as required by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
The agency assured the traveling public that it would leave no stone unturned in ensuring continuous safety of flight operations in all sectors of civil aviation in Nigeria.
