The Association of Luxury Bus Owners of Nigeria (ALBON), the organisation overseeing the Owners/Operators of Long Distance Mass Transit Inter-State Bus Service, has publicly announced the full implementation of a 50% bus fare reduction.
This substantial discount, approved by President Bola Tinubu, would be in effect from Thursday, December 21, 2023, to January 4, 2024, on select routes operated by ALBON members.
In a statement issued Friday and jointly signed by its President, Mr. Nonso Ubajaka and Secretary, Mr. Frank Nneji, in a statement urged passengers to take advantage of the president’s magnanimous gesture.
It said: “All passengers travelling during this festive period are enjoined to alleviate their transportation cost to their various destinations during this festive period.”
The association also took the opportunity to commend the Federal Government and, in particular, the Minister of Transportation, Senator Said Alkali.
ALBON praised Senator Alkali for his tireless efforts to ensure the full implementation of the president’s generous offer, providing significant relief for the traveling masses during this festive period.
“Association of Luxury Bus Owners of Nigeria once again commends and salutes the Federal Government of Nigeria under the listening and responsive leadership of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for this great package for the traveling masses,” the statement read.
The association further applauded Senator Alkali, stating, “We also thank the Hon. Minister of Transportation Senator Said Alkali for his unrelenting efforts. This indeed is the dawn of the RENEWED HOPE for us in the Luxury Bus industry and our numerous passengers nationwide.”
The 50% fare reduction is expected to greatly benefit the travelling public during the festive period, and ALBON’s commendation signifies a vote of confidence in Senator Alkali’s leadership in the transportation sector.
