The Chairman of Oyun Local Government, Hon. Olarewaju Akanbi has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and security across the local government.
He gave the assurance while presiding over the monthly security meeting held at the Oyun Local Government Secretariat in Ilemona.
The chairman in a statement issued Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Owodunni Adekunle said the meeting brought together heads and representatives of security agencies operating within the local government, traditional rulers represented by the Olukotun of Ikotun, HRH Oba Abdulrasaq Abioye Ilufemiloye, religious leaders, community stakeholders, and other key participants to review the security situation in the area.
During the meeting, security reports presented by the various agencies indicated that Oyun Local Government remained peaceful throughout the month under review, with no major security concerns recorded.
The participants attributed the relative peace to the strong collaboration among security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders, and residents.
Akanbi commended all security personnel, traditional rulers, religious leaders, local vigilante groups, and community volunteers for their dedication and unwavering support in safeguarding lives and property across the local government.
He acknowledged the continued efforts of President Bola Tinubu and the Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for their commitment to strengthening security and governance at both the national and state levels.
He urged residents of the local government to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and useful information that would help prevent crime and sustain the prevailing peaceful atmosphere.
Akanbi commended the effectiveness of the local vigilante groups and other community volunteers whose contributions have continued to complement the efforts of conventional security agencies.
Participants described the regular engagement with security stakeholders as a major factor behind the peaceful environment currently enjoyed across the local government.
They pledged to sustain the existing cooperation and work even harder to ensure that peace and security continue to flourish in every community within the local government.
