The federal government has approved Thursday April 11 as an additional public holiday for this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
TheHintsNews reports that the federal government had on April 7 declared Tuesday and Wednesday as public holidays for the Muslim celebration.
However, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Aishetu Ndayako in a statement on Tuesday said the decision was because there was no sighting of the new moon on Monday.
Ndayako said the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo congratulated the Muslim Ummah for a successful completion of a month of spiritual rejuvenation.
The statement reads: “The federal government has approved Thursday 11th April, 2024 as an additional public holiday to celebrate this year’s Eid -El-Fitr.
“The Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, while congratulating the muslim Ummah for a successful completion of a month of spiritual rejuvenation, reiterates President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s (GCFR) firm commitment to providing a safe and prosperous Nigeria for all to thrive.”
