The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has released its daily weather outlook for Tuesday, October 20, 2026, predicting sunny and hazy conditions in the North and thunderstorms with moderate rainfall in the South.
According to the forecast valid from 00:00 to 23:59, northern states will experience sunny skies in a hazy atmosphere throughout the day.
States in North Central are expected to see sunny skies with patches of clouds throughout the day.
In the southern region, NiMet forecasts cloudy skies in the morning, followed by thunderstorms accompanied by moderate rainfall over most parts in the afternoon and evening.
The agency advised residents in dust haze-affected areas to limit prolonged outdoor exposure and urged people with asthma and respiratory conditions to take precautions.
It warned that strong winds may precede thunderstorms and advised the public to secure loose objects, stay indoors during storms, and avoid open spaces, tall trees, exposed structures and power lines.
The agency also urged residents to disconnect electrical appliances during thunderstorms where safe, avoid handling electrical equipment during active storms, and avoid flooded roads, drainage channels and low-lying areas.
Motorists were advised to drive carefully as roads may become slippery and visibility reduced, while airline operators were advised to obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for operational plannin
