The Northern lawmakers in the House of Representatives have donated the sum of N45 million to the victims of military bombing in Tudun Biri community of Igabi LGA of Kaduna State.
TheHintsNews reports that the military’s last Sunday’s accidental airstrike on villagers celebrating Maulud killed 126 people and injuring several others.
The Chairman of the Caucus, Hon. Alhassan Doguwa, in a statement issued Monday, condemned in the strongest terms, the recent incident that occurred at Tudun Biri community of Igabi LGA of Kaduna State.
To this end, the caucus has assured of providing the legal framework for the compensation, and also ensuring that families of those that were killed are adequately captured in the compensation scheme.
It also pledged to follow up with the federal government to ensure appropriate compensations for the victims and the community as promised by the federal government.
It said, “Finally, the caucus has announced a monitory donation of Mr Speaker and that of the Northern Regional Caucus of the Federal House of Representatives amounting to the Sum of 45 Million Naira Cash.”
It, however, commended the commitment of the Nigerian military and other security agencies for their patriotic commitments to combat the upsurge of insurgency, banditry and other criminal activities that plagued some parts of the country.
The caucus also pormised to provide for various developmental project ranging from the provision of health care facility, blocks of classrooms, water boreholes and a community town hall worth N350 million to support the federal government efforts in rebuilding the community.
