Operatives of Oyo State Police Command have arrested two suspects, namely Ganiyu Sodiq (35) and Salaudeen Sheriff (23) for unlawful possession of ammunition.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka in a statement issued Thursday the suspects were arrested on Wednesday, June 10, 2026
He explained that the suspects were apprehended at Budo Pako, Oke-Oyan, where a total of 250 live cartridges were recovered from their possession.
Olayinka noted: “Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects could not provide any lawful explanation or satisfactory account regarding their possession of the recovered ammunition.
“Further investigative findings indicate that the suspects are believed to be involved in the illicit trafficking and supply of ammunition to criminal elements operating within and beyond the State.
“Ongoing intelligence-led investigations are focused on dismantling the wider network, identifying possible collaborators, and determining the source and intended destination of the recovered cartridges.”
Olayinka added that the suspects remained in police custody as investigations continue, stressing that they would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
