One awful thing that could happen to any family is to glibly jump on the DNA adventure. That’s not a child’s play and not a matter to joke with. The eventual demonisation of women and the ultimate disruption of homes, therefore, prescribe circumspection.
The rates at which DNA results had disrupted many hitherto beautiful families is a cause for concern for any probing mind. This also explains why traveling that route is not a decision any family should come by so easily on account of cheap disagreements.
The news of a DNA result by a particular family, showing their four kids were not the man’s is a development that should have been taken beyond the level it is currently being dealt with, and accorded all seriousness. It is beyond a talkshow.
Personally, DNA is not an exercise you carry out at one test station and stick to the outcome, especially if the result is chaotic. There have been instances where results of DNA were allegedly compromised. There is even a case of chimerism, which defies rudimentary science.
I listened to an interview by Drake, who said he ran a DNA on his son at three different places to establish he was his. Such is the seriousness attached to a probable life-changing decision than to just walk in and out as though it was a malaria test.
I’d followed quite closely the ongoing case of the very distinguished “Aunty Bukky” whose four kids were said not to be her husband’s and also that each of the kids allegedly belonged to four different men. I also saw her interview where where she refused to accept the result.
Her case is not the type you run at just one place and return to the table to start mockery discussions. It raises many posers and as such, seeking multiple opinions, including higher scientific clarifications, might be expedient.
For the umpteenth time, DNA is not a joke as it could alter the trajectory of the concerned family, collectively and individually.
This is why anyone facing this challenge must be ready to explore all options possible and spend as much as it is demanded before arriving at a station.
But no hotch-potch arrangement should be acceptable to all parties. This is instructive!
