President Bola Tinubu has been urged to urgently intervene and rescue Nigerian citizens languishing in Ethiopian prisons.
Prophet Godwin Ikuru of Jehovah Eye Salvation Ministry made the call on Sunday in Abuja during a special session on the state of the nation and prayer for the nation.
He said he recently received calls days ago from citizens asking to be deported back to Nigeria.
Ikuru called on the President to immediately direct the Chairman, Nigerian Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa to dispatch a team to Ethiopian to seek the release of Nigerian citizens irrespective of their offense to be tried within the Nigerian laid down laws.
His words:”I daily received calls and I want to urge the President to quickly direct the Chairman, Nigerian Diaspora Commission to write the Ethiopian Government to release its citizens. Many are dying, being flogged and kept without trials.
“They are also in South Africa, Dubai and I can tell you, no matter the gravity of the offense, American government will never allow its citizen dying in another country.”
The prophet noted that President Tinubu is a divine leader sent by God to guide Nigeria towards prosperity and unity.
He, however, urged Nigerians to remain calm amidst the ongoing fuel crisis, stating that the removal of fuel subsidies was a strategic measure taken by the President.
Ikuru added: “I have strong faith in my country and its leadership, particularly our President, whom I believe has been sent by God to lead us.
“He successfully made Lagos State what it is today and Lagos is the hope for Nigeria. People genuinely love Lagos State, and foreigners are drawn to its allure.”
