Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have foiled separate terrorist abduction attempts, rescued 16 civilians and repelled a terrorist attack on 28 August 2026 in Zamfara and Sokoto States,
In a statement issued Saturday said in the early hours of 28 August 2026, troops of Sector 2 responded swiftly to a distress call over an attempted terrorist attack on a community in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The terrorists, who attempted to abduct residents from the community, fled following the swift intervention of the troops.
It added that four civilians were successfully rescued, while troops subsequently dominated the area to prevent further terrorist activity.
Later the same day, troops of Sector 2 responded to information on terrorist activities around Kwanoni Village in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
It added: “On arrival, troops made contact with the terrorists who were attempting to abduct passengers travelling in two vehicles and engaged them in a firefight, forcing the terrorists to withdraw and abandon their intended victims.
“Consequently, all 12 passengers were rescued, while no casualty was recorded among the troops.”
In a separate incident in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State, terrorists launched an attack around Jabo Village.
Troops responded decisively and engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, compelling them to withdraw in disarray.
However, two civilians who sustained gunshot wounds during the incident were promptly evacuated for medical attention, while troops continued to dominate the area to deny the terrorists freedom of action.
