Troops of Joint Task Force North West have overrun a Lakurawa terrorists’ enclave in Waria Forest, Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State, neutralising several terrorists and recovering weapons and five motorcycles during a clearance operation conducted on 15 October, 2026.
Its Media Information Officer, Lt.Col. Aliyu Danja in a statement issued Thursday said during the operation, troops of Sector 2 advanced through identified terrorists’ enclaves along Alela, Bilange and Kandam villages towards Waria Forest and made contact with the terrorists.
He explained that during the firefight, troops dominated the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon their positions and flee deeper into the forest.
Danja added: “Troops subsequently pursued the fleeing terrorists, neutralising some of them in the process.
“Further exploitation of the area led to the destruction of the terrorists’ camps and all life-support structures, as well as the recovery of weapons and five motorcycles.
