The association of former All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) members have demanded for greater inclusion of its members in the current administration, while reaffirming its support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

A communiqué at the end of its leadership meeting held in Abuja on Monday, the group expressed concern over what it described as the non-inclusion of former ANPP members in federal appointments and decision-making since the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) despite their contributions to the formation and development of the APC.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, the National Coordinator of the association, Prof Vitalis Ajumbe, said the ANPP bloc, which played a significant role in the merger that birthed the APC, has not been adequately represented in government positions.

“During our last meeting of July 28, 2025, we made certain demands from our President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for consideration and approval,” Ajumbe said.

He recalled that among the group’s demands were the appointment of its members as board chairmen, ambassadors, ministers, and heads of government agencies; the preservation of the vice-presidential slot for the ANPP bloc as the second-largest contributor to the APC merger; and a commitment that power should shift to the ANPP bloc after Tinubu’s tenure expires in 2031, in the spirit of fairness and equity.

“While awaiting the President’s response, the group resolved to strengthen its structures nationwide to mobilize support for Tinubu’s re-election,” he added.

The communiqué further revealed that the association plans to mobilise members across the 774 local government areas to hold regular meetings ahead of the 2027 elections.

While congratulating the new APC national chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, the association also formally endorsed President Tinubu and his policies, pledging continued loyalty to the APC and commitment to national development.

The meeting was attended by Senator Aliyu Sani, Senator Dahiru El-Katazu, Chief Igaga Ogbonna, Dr. Ibrahim Modibbo, Hon. Shuayb Kano, Prince Adebola Ogunleye, Mustapha Ringim, Princess N. Dickson, Chief Geoffrey Yilleng, Ichie Mike Ejezie, Dr. Francis Egu, Hon. Emma Ibediro, and Comrade Benedict Godson, among others.
