The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Friday approved the promotion of 7,472 personnel comprising 2,134 Officers and 5,338 Marshals, in a major career progression exercise designed to reward merit, strengthen professionalism in the Corps’ leadership and operational structure.
The promotion, FRSC noted, formed part of the Corps’ continuing commitment to human capital development which recognises dedication, competence, discipline and years of service of personnel who have distinguished themselves in the discharge of their responsibilities to the nation.
The Corps Marshal, FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, described the promotion as both a reward and a responsibility.
He stressed that every new rank must translate into a higher level of professionalism, accountability, leadership and service delivery.
Mohammed noted that the elevation of the affected personnel, were therefore, not merely a change in rank, but a renewed call to greater responsibility, higher standards and more impactful service to the Nigerian motoring public.
According to him, The strength of FRSC is not measured only by its patrol vehicles, technology or enforcement architecture, but fundamentally by the quality, character and commitment of the men and women who stand between road users and the consequences of unsafe road behaviour.
The Corps Marshal further emphasised that promotion in FRSC must continue to serve as an instrument for building a professional, responsive and performance-driven institution capable of meeting the evolving demands of road safety management in Nigeria.
He urged the newly promoted Officers and Marshals to justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating discipline on and off the road, treating members of the public with dignity, while upholding the integrity of the Corps.
The newly promoted personnel are expected to carry their new responsibilities with renewed purpose and to remember that, in the FRSC, rank is not merely worn, it is earned, entrusted and ultimately measured by service.
