Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have rescued two kidnapped victims, recovered 94 rustled livestock and disrupted terrorist activities in separate operations conducted on 25 and 26 August 2026 in Kaduna and Kano States.
Its Media Information Officer, Lt-Col. Aliyu Danja in a statement issued Thursday said in Kaduna State, troops of Sector 1 conducting a clearance operation on 25 August, 2026 in Kachia Local Government Area encountered terrorists who attempted to ambush the advancing troops.
He explained that the troops responded with superior firepower, forcing the terrorists to flee.
Danja noted that exploitation of the area led to the recovery of a motorcycle abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.
He added: “In another operation on 25 August 2026, troops of Sector 1 responded swiftly to a distress call on the abduction of 3 civilians and rustling of livestock around Hayin Babangida in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
“The troops tracked and engaged the terrorists, leading to the successful rescue of two female victims who were subsequently reunited with their families.
“Sadly, the third victim, a male, was found with a gunshot wound inflicted by the terrorists and died while being evacuated for medical attention.”
Similarly, on 25 August 2026, Danja revealed that troops responded to reports of terrorist activities in Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State, where the terrorists had rustled livestock from a community.
He noted that troops of Sector 1 pursued the terrorists and made contact with them as they attempted to escape from the area.
Danja said: “Overwhelmed by the troops’ superior firepower, the terrorists fled in disarray and abandoned the rustled livestock.
“Further exploitation of the area on 26 August 2026 resulted in the recovery of additional livestock, bringing the total recovered to 94, comprising 57 cows and 37 sheep.”
Danja stressed that the livestock were subsequently handed over to their rightful owners in the presence of representatives of security agencies and local government authorities.
