Daredevil bandits at the wee hours of Friday invaded Zone A, back of Primary School, in Ushafa, a community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), killing a man identified as Mr. Felix Chuks and abducting his entire family.
TheHintsNews gathered that the gunmen stormed the community in the early hours with heavy gunfire.
A resident of the community who did not want his name in print said efforts to reach the vigilantes during the attack proved abortive as they were not taking their calls, apparently due to the heavy gunfire by the bandits.
“The bandits came to the area around midnight when everyone was asleep. It looks like the man was not cooperating with them, which is why they killed him,” he said.
Meanwhile, residents of Tundun Fulani community in Bwari Area Council had a sleepless night when bandits came calling.
The bandits invaded the area at about 172 in the midnight, killing one and kidnapping four others.
Lamenting about the attack on a WhatsApp group, a resident of the community said: “What a black Friday in Bwari Abuja! Kidnappers killed Mr. chike and kidnapped four persons this morning around Tundun Fulani area.
“It’s so unfortunate that many of these cases are unreported. However, to the best of my knowledge, the FCT Police Command has provided all the necessary logistics and support to Bwari police Division; but the obvious incompetence and poor leadership capacity of the DPO, Csp Baba Yola have not helped matters.
“He is too concerned with alot of mundane distractions without a major focus in tackling our pressing Security issue which is kidnapping. This death could be any one of us here in Bwari! We can’t continue to pamper the ego of one man at the detriment of the entire society. It’s time he goes before we become victims.
“We call upon the FCT minister, Commissioner of police and the Area Commander to as a matter of urgency rejig the Bwari police leadership that is ready to work with the community for effective policing. So Sad.”
