The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested 78 suspects during raids on black spots and criminal hideouts across the nation’s capital.
The operation which took place late on Tuesday, June 18, was carried out by police operatives from Mpape, Katampe, Kabusa, Gwagwalada, Apo, Kubwa, and Kurudu Divisions, according to a statement issued by the Command under Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja.
The police in a statement issued Thursday revealed that the raids targeted uncompleted buildings and other suspected criminal enclaves within the respective divisions.
It said: “A total of 78 suspects were arrested. Exhibits recovered during the operation include machetes, daggers, and some quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp,” the statement read.
It added that the suspects are currently in custody and undergoing screening and interrogation at their respective divisions.
The police said those found culpable would be charged to court, while others might be released after clearance.
