The Federal Capital Territory Administration, (FCTA) has sealed the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
TheHintsNews reports that the FCTA last Friday announced that it would take possession of PDP and other property affected by the revocation of 4,793 land titles over non-payment of Ground Rent, for between 10 and 43 years.
However, the FCTA on Monday carried out its threat to seal the Wadata Plaza, the Secretariat of the embattled opposition party.
The sealing of the Secretariat followed the inability of PDP to pay requisite fees regarding ground rents for over 25 years.
TheHintsNews reports that a grace of 21 days was given to title holders that were in default of payment of Ground Rent for between one and ten years, to pay up or have their land titles revoked.
Payment of Ground Rent on landed property in the FCT is founded on extant legislation and it is clearly stipulated in the terms and conditions of grant of Right of Occupancy, and it is due for payment on the first day of January, each year, without demand.
