The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Monday confirmed three people were killed in a train accident involving the Warri–Itakpe Train Service (WITS) corridor at Agbor, Delta State.
The NRC hinted that rescue and emergency response operations were immediately activated adding that all passengers on board were accounted for.
The NRC had earlier issued a statement confirming the incident where it stated that emergency response teams and relevant authorities were currently at the scene attending to the situation.
It revealed that necessary assistance was provided while closely monitoring developments and promised a detailed statement would be issued as soon as more information becomes available.
The Managing Director of NRC, Kayode Opeifa in a statement urgerembers of the public to rely only on verified information and official updates from the Corporation as investigations and response efforts continue.
He noted: “Sadly, three fatalities have been confirmed at this time. Relevant authorities continue to assess the full circumstances surrounding the incident, while support is being provided to affected passengers.”
