The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the youths to shelve the planned protests, assuring that the federal government would address the economic challenges facing the nation.
The NWC also called for an emergency meeting of Chairmen of the APC in all the 36 states of the federation for further discussions.
The National Secretary of the party, Senator Ajibola Bashir disclosed this while addressing a press conference on Wednesday in Abuja after after the 153rd NWC of the party
He said: “The APC at its 153rd NWC meeting has joined the President to passionately appeal to those who are planning protests to shelve their plans and have confidence and belief in the government to address most of the economic challenges facing the nation.
“The NWC also noted that since coming on board in 2023, the government met quite a number of challenges, especially economic challenges, and Mr President is gradually implementing programmes and policies that would in the nearest future, bring succour and relief to the citizens.”
Bashir stressed that the most of the economic challenges are global issues, adding that this could only be addressed after thorough brain-storming.
According to him, The NWC also noted that some of the issues highlighted by the protestants are political, while others are constitutional matters that can only be addressed through the amendment of the constitution, which is on-going at the National Assembly.
The ruling party urged all those planning the protests to have confidence in President Bola Tinubu unrelentless efforts at repositioning the economy, while assuring Nigerians that the challenges will sooner or later come to pass.
The party called on parents and well-meaning Nigerians to monitor the movement of their children/wards so that they would not be used in causing chaos in the country.
