The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has called on the Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to help it in mobilising prospective registrants for the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise ahead of the Edo and Ondo State governorship elections. Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Tuesday invaded a State High Court sitting in Ilaro, Ogun State, arresting two defendants. The invasion of the court by DSS operatives has generated outrage. The court was presided over by Justice A.A. Shobayo. The defendants, Isiaka Fatai and Samuel Oyero, were tried in a suit marked HCP/IC/2023 between the State vs Awode Oladosu & 13 others. A civil society Organisation, Global Rights has ranked Rivers and Lagos states as the worst states in Nigeria as regards electoral violence. The first man to receive a genetically modified pig kidney transplant has died two months after the operation, the hospital which carried out the procedure has said. Richard “Rick” Slayman, 62, was suffering with end-stage kidney disease before undergoing the operation in March. Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) said on Sunday there was no indication his death was a result of the transplant.
