The Arewa Traders Association has urged the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, to use his office to secure government appointments for its members in the adminstration of President Bola Tinubu.
The Chairman of the association in FCT and 19 northern states, Adam Ibrahim, stated this on Tuesday when he led a delegation to the national secretariat of the party in Abuja.
Ibrahim stated: “You are aware that members of this noble association are well educated in spheres of life and we constitute the majority in our economic and political contribution.
“We will like you to use your good office to provide inclusion of traders to the various governmental appointments and the committees so that traders will feel confident in the campaign activities for the party.”
Ibrahim pointed out that his members worked for the success of the party during the 2023 general election.
He, however, lamented that his members are facing economic challenges due to COVID-19 pandemic, removal of fuel subsidy, high exchange rate and insecurity in many parts of the country.
In his response, Ganduje said the President is working hard to provide an enabling environment for the traders to do their legitimate activities.
He also assured that the President was working very hard on the security of this nation, which he said top priority of his agenda.
The chairman noted that everyone knows how important security is to traders, saying if there’s no security, there’s no trade, no marketing and most importantly no feeding.
He also urged the traders in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to cooperate with FCT minister, Nyesom Wike.
Ganduje added: “So you know and likely enough, you have a competent, Honorable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, the former governor of River state, Nyesom Wike who came from a big city himself, but has now gotten another mandate of administering another big city, the Federal Capital Territory.
“So I urge you to cooperate with him, so that he can create a decent environment for commercial activities in the mega city of Abuja.”
