The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo has inaugurated a first class hotel facilities at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja to aid passengers’ comfort while on transit.
Keyamo, while unveiling the hotel located at the departure building of the International wing of the airport, hinted that it was not just a one-off event but part of the new management drive and policy direction to collaborate with the private sector to improve passengers’ comfort.
He explained that the management, Sami Court, has been a major stakeholder in the Nigeria’s aviation sector for long and the initiative was one of the contributions to the sector.
Keyamo said: “What we have been doing is to attract private sector participation in development of our infrastructure and enhance passenger experience
a lot of the private sector collaboration is in the kitchen cooking.
“The MRS group contribution to the aviation sector to improve passengers experience at the airport and it is not just a one off but part of our policy drive to collaborate with the private sector in improving our policy drive. Many more will follow. Myself and other heads of agencies have been working behind the scene to drive private sector into our airport.
“In few months to come we are going to unveil more packages apart from the MRS group, other people are coming to us . It is part of the vigour of the management team and CEO of other agencies to attract private sector. We encourage people to patronize them as they have good ambience.
“This is part of the vigour that this new management team is bringing into the sector.”
Similarly, the Managing Director/Chief Executive, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, said the hotel is made of 22 rooms with fitted amenities that will ensure the comfort of passengers.
She said this was the beginning of remarkable partnership between the federal ministry of aviation and aerospace development and Sami Court, adding that FAAN looked forward to more relationships in the future.
