The Management of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), says, it has set up 13 rescue stations out of its 24 offices nationwide to mitigate boat mishap incidents along the country’s waterways. The accident that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday on Bwari-Dutse expressway has claimed the life of a taxi driver, while many others are injured. According to any eyewitness, the accident was as a result of overspeeding of the lorry carrying sand. He said: “There was a very serious and fatal accident at Bwari-Dutse expressway. The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has blamed the recent hike in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from N537 to N617 on arbitrary levies by government institutions and extortion by security agencies.
